Various global studies have shown that marine currents have a large potential as a predictable sustainable resource for commercial scale generation of electrical power. There are many areas of the world in which extreme tidal currents are observed. The Celtic sea is the densest in terms of renewable energy potential (Tidal energy and offshore wind).
